Mrs. Stanton & Susan
From the Writings and Letters of
Elizabeth Cady Stanton and
Susan B. Anthony
Two Forty-minute Plays or
A Ninety-minute Two-act Play

Reed is enchantingly believable.--Robert Windeler, KCRW, Los Angeles, CA

Act I: MRS. STANTON
Elizabeth Cady Stanton loved her family, but the difficulties she faced as the mother of--finally--seven children in isolated Seneca Falls galvanized her, in 1848, to organize the first Woman's Rights Convention. Three years later, she was introduced to Susan B. Anthony, who became her "friend and co-adjutor" as together they pursued a lifetime of working for Woman'sRights.

Act II: SUSAN
In 1877, Susan B. Anthony prophesied "an era of single women." But as a young woman, she was interested in pretty dresses, parties--and young men. Here, in her own words, we see Anthony turn from these concerns and join with Cady Stanton to question the conventions that hobbled women and to embrace the Woman's Rights Movement.

I wish it could be shown on PBS.
